Challenging Behaviour Champions
Announcement from the Challenging Behaviour Foundation:
"We are the Challenging Behaviour Foundation and we support families of people with severe learning disabilities who display challenging behaviour. Some of your members may have recently attended our South East London challenging behaviour workshops.
We are currently looking for new volunteers in the London, Kent and Essex area. Although we are asking people to volunteer for us the job does come with quite a few perks – if the volunteer talks at a conference they usually get to stay and watch the other presentations as well!
The volunteer role involves attending events and promoting the work of the CBF to families in the area the volunteer lives. It gives the family carer the chance to meet other carers, to attend events where they will learn about a whole variety things and to enable to CBF to reach more families in need of support.
A role description is attached to tell you more, along with an application form if anyone would like to apply.
To take on this role, we are asking all new volunteers to attend a 3 day training event next month: 27th, 28th and 29th March in Chatham, Kent.
Volunteers will learn about challenging behaviour and the approaches the CBF promotes, what you will do as a volunteer and much more. Volunteers tell us this training is really valuable and they enjoy meeting each other and spending time with carers with similar experiences.
All expenses are covered for family carers attending the training event, including travel, accommodation and meals.
Please do ask us if you have any questions or would like to discuss the role or the training (call on the phone number below).
