Contact Parent/Carer awards

Contact are inviting nominations for their awards for parents, carers, siblings and colleagues as well as campaign groups and forums.

Here's what they say:

"40 years ago that we started as a charity when a group of parents recognised the benefits of getting together with other families like theirs for friendship and to share experiences and advice.

We are excited to announce that as part of our 40th anniversary festivities this year, we are holding an Awards event - and nominations are now officially open.

Get your nominations in for Contact's Together at 40 Awards - celebrating the achievements of families with disabled children

Contact's Together at 40 Awards are a celebration of the countless and often unrecognised achievements of families with disabled children up and down the country.

It seems right that during our 40th birthday year, we shine a spotlight on the many positives that come with being a family with a disabled child and on the wonderful parent carer community with which we stand and work together.

Amanda Batten, Chief Executive of Contact, said: "As a national charity, we often hear about when things go wrong for families, such as the difficulties of getting the right support. This isn't surprising as that's what we are here for. But it's important to recognise when things go right and come together to celebrate.

"We are calling for families across the country to nominate their friends, family members, colleagues, as well as campaign groups and forums for a Contact Together at 40 Award - so please get busy nominating."
