Supporting your LGBTQ+ child

METRO, a charity based in Woolwich, is running a conference on 16 November for parents to support them with LGBTQ+ young people and provide them with better awareness.

Metro charity believes in celebrating difference and challenging
discrimination. They work closely with the LGBTQ+ community and are delivering an ANTI HOMOPHOBIC, BIPHOBIC AND TRANSPHOBIC BULLYING PROGRAMME funded by the Government & Equalities Office (GEO). LGBTQ+ young people still face disproportionately high levels of bullying, suicide and mental health problems, and Metro is working to change that picture. Their training has received glowing feedback from over 3500 professionals trained in tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying as well as LGBTQ+ awareness and inclusion.

At this conference event parents will receive the following workshops:

•    Introduction to LGBTQ+ awareness and terminologies

•    How to support Trans young people with their gender identity

•    Film screening and Q&A

•    An introduction to creative writing as a method of
self-expression (optional)

The parent conference will be held at their MAIN OFFICE IN WOOLWICH
ARSENAL ON FRIDAY 16TH November 2018, 9 AM – 2 PM (more info. on the
